Back-to-School is just over a week away, can you believe it? Our staff here at Christian Virtual School have been hard at work preparing for our new and returning students joining us for the 2024-2025 school year. We’re so excited to welcome students from Grade 4 all the way to Grade 12!
It is our mission here at CVS to connect learners to exceptional online Christian education and encourage students to grow both academically and spiritually. Through personalized teaching and compassionate administrative support, we deliver exceptional learning experiences that are firmly rooted in a Christ-centered worldview.
For the past couple of years, pre-registered students could expect an orientation session scheduled before school started. This year, we’re shaking things up a bit. Instead of one long and overwhelming session with all the information a student might possibly need before school starts, we’re holding several smaller sessions once the majority of students have been enrolled. All members of our administrative team will be taking part in leading and guiding these sessions to help our students to the best of our abilities. We encourage students to meet with us for these sessions virtually in order to get the most out of their educational journey here at CVS.
The first session will be a general overview: how it works, what to expect, what you might need, how to get in touch with a teacher or staff member. The general orientation session will also provide a means to connect with other families and students to begin forming a community right off the bat.
Then, we’ll have a number of sessions on learning the ins and outs of our learning environment as well as a session on getting organized: how to use supply lists and pacing guides and setting yourself up for success. Our secondary students can expect to meet with our guidance team to discuss secondary school requirements for the OSSD. Finally, we’ll have a session on feedback and reports: how to view teacher feedback, how to read the gradebook, and what to expect regarding reports.
We are so excited to host these sessions to get to know our students as well as ease them into another great school year.
