Even though this Christmas season will look decidedly different for many people, it will still come with the typical busyness and chaos we associate with this time of the year.
Despite the tendency I might have to become too daunted by this busyness, I always look forward to Advent – a time to slow down, pause, and reflect. Advent always comes at just the right time, when it is most needed. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by busy schedules or the events of the past year, Advent gives us time to re-calibrate our hearts and minds back on Jesus. Even as we reflect on Christ’s first coming, we can look forward in anticipation and hope for His promised second coming as we see in Revelations:
…“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”… – Revelations 21:3-5 (NIV)
This year, beginning on Sunday, November 29 and lasting until Christmas Eve, Advent 2020 is an opportunity for you to join fellow Christians around the world in a quiet season of the heart. We have compiled a few resources that we hope will guide you and your family as you reflect on the miracle of the newborn King, the Prince of Peace.
