“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” – Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
As an online education provider, Christian Virtual School builds courses with a Christian perspective, and encourages critical thinking and self-exploration. While our staff and students may be coming from different denominations of Christianity, we are all united by our desire to service Christ and to share in His love. In addition to the elementary and secondary courses that we offer, a Bible study is available to all CVS students.
Here at Christian Virtual School, we just wrapped up our 2020-2021 Bible Study: Defining Yourself in Christ. Each week students received a new lesson that culminated into a year long study, full of reflection and self-examination. The course was broken down into four units: Christ as the Centre; Who We Are in Christ; Where We Stand in Christ and How We Stand in Christ.
Throughout the Bible study, students spent a lot of time learning about labels, what they mean, who labels us and who we should believe. Students were asked to think about their own individual gifts that God has given to them, and how can they use these gifts to serve others. Students had an opportunity to listen to a song and analyze the meaning of the lyrics, and their connection to scripture. Also, the study pyramid was introduced, and students used their skills to review Daniel 1-3.
Any students who have recently joined CVS are able to review the 2020-2021 Bible Study at their leisure. Similar to our courses, CVS Bible Study is self-paced and students can revisit the lessons at any time throughout the year.
In September 2021, we begin our new Bible Study: A Multi-Denominational World. In this study, students will examine their own beliefs and gain an appreciation of multiple viewpoints. Students will be encouraged to have inclusive conversations and think critically about their own personal walks with God. Students will reflect on their beliefs and solidify their own faith by gathering evidence through God’s word.
