Derek is a graduate of the Concurrent Education program at Brock University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education.
After graduating, Derek began his teaching career in the remote, Indigenous community of Pikangikum in Northern Ontario before returning home to Southwestern Ontario. Derek has experience teaching in both the private and public sectors and has experience across many grades and the qualifications to teach Grade 1-12. Derek has been teaching online since 2013 and his passion for teaching and technology makes teaching at CVS a perfect fit!
Derek is a proud dad to a 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son. Derek is an avid triathlete so in between work and spending time with family, you will likely find him swimming, biking or running. Derek plans to complete his first Ironman in 2021! Derek loves spending time with his family in the outdoors either hiking local trails or riding bikes.
