Christian Virtual School is so incredibly blessed by its exceptional team of teachers. From all different backgrounds and locations, these individuals come together virtually to bring their passion and skills to our school to help educate our students and guide them in the way they should go.
We want to lift up our teachers in prayer and thank the Lord our God for each and every one of them, may they continue to foster excitement for learning in our students’ minds, may they be blessed in their steps as they educate our children!
Teaching is a gift from God, and we are so glad our teachers have chosen to share their gift here at our school.
Christ gave gifts to men. He gave to some the gift to be missionaries, some to be preachers, others to be preachers who go from town to town. He gave others the gift to be church leaders and teachers. 12 These gifts help His people work well for Him. And then the church which is the body of Christ will be made strong. 13 All of us are to be as one in the faith and in knowing the Son of God. English & Social Sciences and Humanities
Mrs. Lidia Petrone
Lidia is our Grade 9 English and Grade 12 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course teacher. She has been teaching with CVS since 2021 and has over 25 years of teaching experience. As an educator, Lidia is tempered with compassion, wisdom and social justice. Her goal is to offer her online students the very best education
Mr. Andre Iarusso
Andre is our Grade 10, 11, and 12 English and Grade 12 Philosophy teacher and has been with us since 2022. Andre’s passion lies in working with English Language Learners, and his central goal with each of his students is to help them reach their full potential.
The Arts and French
Mrs. Deniese Kerr
Deniese is our Grade 9 Integrated Arts and Grade 9 Core French (both open and academic) teacher. Deniese has been teaching with CVS since 2021 and brings with her a passion for teaching young people. She takes pride in helping her students acquire the same and share in her passion and enjoyment of learning.
Mr. Chris Brown
Chris has been teaching Christian Virtual School’s Grade 10 and 11 Music courses since they were launched in 2023. Chris finds a great deal of satisfaction in equipping and encouraging students to face their current situations with resilience and navigate the roadmap leading to post-secondary education or work.
Mathematics, Business, Computer Studies, and Sciences
Mr. Mark Dietrich
Mark has been teaching with CVS since 2021, and students will see his name in Grade 9 and 10 Math as well as Grade 9 and 11 Business.
Mrs. Priscilla Chan
Priscilla is one of our newer teachers, having joined us in the spring of 2024. She lends her talents to our Grade 12 Data Management course as well as Grade 11 and 12 Computer Studies. Priscilla wishes to foster a positive learning environment and help guide students towards academic success.
Mr.s Melissa West
Melissa also joined us in the spring of 2024 as our Grade 12 Functions, Grade 9 Science, and Grade 11 and 12 Chemistry teacher. Melissa is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, bringing passion for science and math to every lesson.
Mrs. Jenita Naylor
Jenita has been teaching with Christian Virtual School since 2023, in Grade 9 Science and Grade 11 Biology. Jenita’s passion for the Lord is undeniable, inspiring her students to seek opportunities to appreciate just how great of a designer our Creator, God, really is.
Mrs. Melissa Laukkanen
Melissa has been teaching our Grade 10 Science and Grade 11 Physics since 2022. Melissa is excited about getting her students excited about the handiwork of God through physics and mathematics.
Canadian and World Studies, Guidance and Career Education, and Health and Physical Education
Mr, Mark Hindermeier
Mark has been with CVS since our very first school year in 2020. Mark teaches our Grade 9 Geography, Healthy Active Living Education, and Learning Strategies courses as well as Grade 10 Career Studies and Grade 11 Designing Your Future. Mark hopes to help students and colleagues free themselves of their concerns and fear of learning new things, and bring out their best selves!
Mr. Matt Vanderheide
Matt is our Grade 10, 11, and 12 History teacher, he also teaches Grade 10 Civics & Citizenship and Grade 12 Politics. Matt has been with CVS since 2021 and loves to delve deep into understanding and engaging with politics and how we can view it and history through a Christian lens.
Mr. Jonathan Kirk
Jonathan also teaches Civics and Citizenship, as well as Grade 9 Business. Jonathan has been with us since 2023 and brings almost a decade of educational experience with him, lending his gifts also to our Mathematics courses by helping create content.
