As CVS continues to grow and find ways to involve our students in a community, we are excited to announce our latest initiative: Student Ambassadors.
The goal of this role is to have student representatives who will welcome new students, participate and encourage others to participate in events, and potentially attend tours/orientation events as current CVS students, as well as be the student’s voice in planning social events, etc.
In this week’s blog, we’d like to introduce you to our very first Student Ambassadors! This year’s Student Ambassadors range from Grade 6 through 10. Read more below!
Alyssa – Grade 10
Kind – Smart – Creative
Alyssa has been attending CVS since Grade 9. Her family is just a couple weeks away from welcoming a sweet Shih Tzu puppy named Bella to their home! She enjoys writing (and illustrating) children’s stories, playing guitar and piano, and doing crafts. She loves sailing and being near the water, and is currently working on her Lifeguarding certification! In the summer, she loves going to camp. Her favourite authors are C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien, and one of her favourite Bible verses is the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 13.
“I’m excited to be a Student Ambassador because I love this school and the wonderful community of teachers, staff, and students. It feels like a supportive family, and I want to help other students have the best experience possible.“
Mikayla – Grade 9
Caring – Creative – Goofy
Mikayla loves to read and write, and she has so many favourite authors she couldn’t possibly pick just one. Her favourite subject in school is unsurprisingly English, as well as shop! She attends CVS part time, and at her bricks-and-mortar school has the opportunity to be on the Media Production Team, which allows her to hone her photography skills. In her spare time she likes to go fishing or hunting with her dad and 3 dogs, play games with her younger sister, and listen to music! One of Mikayla’s favourite Bible verses is Psalm 28:7.
“I am so excited to be a Student Ambassador for CVS because it will allow me to become more involved with the school, and to get to know everybody more! I am also really excited about planning and organizing school events as well as giving school tours and introducing new students. I hope that my fellow ambassadors and I can help CVS to become a better place to learn and to make new friends!“
Hailey – Grade 8
Creative – Kind – Smart
Hailey is an artist of all sorts, and spends as much time as she can learning different crafts with her Oma. She has always had a love for art since as long as she can remember! She loves drawing, water colour painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, as well as cooking and baking. She comes from a family of artists – her mom does realism art, her dad is awesome at colouring, her great Oma was an awesome painter, and her Grandpa was a realism artist like her mom! Hailey has blue and green complete heterochromia, which is the presence of different coloured eyes in the same person. Hailey has just completed her babysitting certification, and can often be found babysitting her younger siblings! Here favourite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:8.
“I’m really excited to have this role because it will give me the chance to help others and socialize!“
Ayda – Grade 6
Spunky – Fun – Kind
Ayda’s favourite subject in school is Science, because she loves to learn about Creation and how God made the universe. Her favourite animal is quail – she has 23 of them and will be starting a quail egg stand at her local market this coming summer. She lives out in the country with her family and 3 dogs, loves Ann M. Martin’s books, and the colours purple, light teal, pink, and yellow. One of her favourite Bible verses is Jude 1:24-25.
“I am excited to be a Student Ambassador because I love helping people. It brings me joy to know that what I (and the other student ambassadors and staff) are doing is and will be a help to students.“
Our student ambassadors can be found in the Student’s Corner in their Study Hall or Homeroom, and peers can reach out to them there or via email!
